Teens arrested in chase, car theft

LINCOLN, NEB (FOX 42 KPTM)-- A 15-year-old boy and an 18-year old were arrested Wednesday morning in Lincoln after trying to run from police in a stolen car.

Investigators say there's been a recent spree of stolen cars in Lincoln.

Because of that they put together a plan before trying to stop the car.

They say an officer on 48th and Cornhusker Hwy set up a spike strip.

The officers tried to pull the car over near 35th and Cornhusker, but the driver sped up to try to get away.

Officers say the spike strip worked and the car stopped near 176th and Hwy 6 around 1:30 Wednesday morning.

A 15 year old was driving, he was taken to the Youth Attention Center.

The 18-year-old, Tyrone Kometscher, was booked into the Lancaster County Jail.
