NSP urges drivers to move over after deadly crash on I-680 shoulder
OMAHA, Neb (FOX 42 KPTM)-- Nebraska State Patrol is urging drivers to move over or at least slow down for emergency cars and trucks.
For the second time in three weeks, a Nebraska State Trooper was hit while he was pulled over on the side of the road in Omaha.
Officers say Tuesday morning around 1:45 State Trooper Christopher Goodrich was parked in his Dodge Charger on the Northbound shoulder of I-680. They say he was working on finishing a report.
They say a Kia Sportage heading north rear ended Goodrich's cruiser. The crash sent both cars into the grass shoulder.
Police say Avry Johnson, 21, was driving the Kia and died at the hospital from chest injuries.
Goodrich broke his arm. NSP tells Fox 42 News he is expected to be okay.
