UNMC launches training with 4 new emergency medical trucks

The trucks will help volunteers keep their skills up-to-date.

Four new emergency medical trucks are now on their way to rural Nebraska.

The simulation-in-motion trucks will provide free training to medical service agencies in rural areas.

Each truck is equipped with computerized mannequins that can simulate a variety of medical conditions.

The trucks will help those volunteers keep their skills up-to-date.

“They would have to drive somewhere between 5 and 150 miles,” said simulator trainer Doug Dekker. “We're going to be bringing that training to them free of charge, so they can train their whole team at once.”

The simulators and their trainers already have a busy schedule ahead. More than 60 agencies have requested training time.
