Untreated sewage reaches Zorinsky Lake following power failure
OMAHA, Neb. (News Release) —
Due to a power failure at the Zorinsky Sewage Lift Station, an unknown quantity of untreated sewage escaped the sewer system and flowed overland, reaching Zorinsky Lake.
Power has been restored to the sewage lift station, ending the overflow.
Because an unknown quantity of sewage entered Zorinsky Lake, the Omaha Public Works Department is issuing the following advice:
Avoid wading primary body contact with the waters of Zorinsky Lake. In addition, a portion of the West Loop Trail has been closed to the public until cleanup of the site has been completed.
This advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
