Volunteers make 500 Healing Hearts Survivor Kits for cancer patients
OMAHA, Neb. —
Those battling cancer now have some special encouragement, thanks to a local non-profit group.
Project Pink'd and many other volunteers made over 500 "healing hearts" kits Sunday.
Each kit is tailored to what kind of treatment a patient is going through.
Each has a handwritten note of inspiration from a breast cancer survivor.
One woman who is helping says her mom passed away from breast cancer and she feels this will carry on her mom's legacy.
"If she were to be here today, she would be super proud of what we're doing and carrying on the legacy of her and her giving personality," volunteer Shawn McCarville said. "Making sure everyone feels welcomed and that they're not going through this battle that everyone goes through alone."
Project Pink'd will be delivering the kits to over 25 different hospitals and medical centers throughout Nebraska and western Iowa Monday.
