VP's wife makes stop in the metro to support local organization
OMAHA, Neb. (FOX42KPTM) —
The Vice President's wife Mrs. Karen Pence joined local officials at the Omaha Sister Cities Association gala at UNO Sunday night.
"I jumped at the opportunity to help this organization in anyway that I could," said Mrs. Pence. "You have been helping to build better and stronger relationships between cities, states and countries for a long time."
Organizers say they put on the event to celebrate the international relationships OSCA has built. It also doubles as the organizations annual fundraiser.
"It's a vast network of people that care about bringing communities together bringing people together," said Mindy Ruffalo, who works with OSCA.
Omaha has six sister cities all in different countries: Japan, Germany, Lithuania, Ireland, Mexico and China.
Omaha Sister Cities was first formed back in 1965.
