Woman arrested after trying to help boyfriend escape from jail, police say
OMAHA, Neb. (FOX42KPTM) —
A woman who tried to break her boyfriend out of jail is now in jail herself.
Police say on Wednesday, Veronica Ibarra pretended to work for an inmate transportation service.
When she arrived at Douglas County Department of Corrections at around 10:45 a.m., officials became suspicious.
Police say she asked for her boyfriend Jesus Villegas-Murillo and his friend Alberto Cortes.
Neither inmate was moved from their respective housing units or escorted to the Transfer Office.
Deputies say Ibarra confessed to the escape plan after being questioned.
Ibarra says neither of the inmates was aware of the plan.S
he was arrested and charged with one count of criminal impersonation to law enforcement.
Further investigation and charges are pending.
