Woman who fell off car in Lincoln has died
LINCOLN, Neb (FOX 42 KPTM)-- Police in Lincoln say the woman who was thrown off a car her niece was driving has died.
Lincoln police say Autumn Hernandez loaned her boyfriend's car to her niece, Kacie Alatoree, three months ago, but Alatoree refused to give it back.
On November 7th, they say Hernandez saw Alatoree outside her home in Lincoln near 29th and M Streets and confronted her.
Officers say, Alatoree pulled away as Hernandez clung to the top of the car.
Witnesses told officers Alatoree drove as fast as 45 mph and swerved back and forth until Hernandez fell off.
Police say Hernandez broke the base of her skull which lead to bleeding in the brain. Doctors warned early on that she would not survive.
Hernandez was declared brain dead on November 8th, but doctors kept her on life support so her organs could be used.
She was declared dead over the weekend.
Alatoree is in jail on charges of failing to stop and render aid. There is no word yet on updated charges.
