Man charged after claiming he threw his daughter out of a car window

A man who claimed he threw his daughter out of a car window has now been formally charged.

35-year-old Damion Anderson was arrested Friday after a call to police was made over shots fired.

Anderson was found in his car on U.S. 31 with a weapon. He told police after a physical confrontation that he may have thrown his 19-month-daughter out of his car.

At least 50 responders then shut down U.S. 31 to search for the girl. Police later found the girl, who had been safe with her mother the entire time.

Monday, Anderson was formally charged with: Resisting Law Enforcement a Class A Misdemeanor, Carrying a Handgun without a License a Class A Misdemeanor, Battery by Bodily Waste a Level 6 Felony and Carrying a Handgun without a License a Level 5 Felony.

Anderson is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

He is being held in the St. Joseph County Jail on $30,000 bond.
