Creighton Prep, Papillion-La Vista South claim team titles at A4 meet
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. —
Papillion-La Vista South scored 156 points to win the girls team title at the A4 district meet in Grand Island.
The boys of Creighton Prep totaled 115 points and topped the Titans by 34 points for the district championship.
Neither North Platte nor Grand Island was able to get an individual victor in the girls 17 events.
The Islanders had Carson Cahoy win the boys pole vault when he cleared 15 feet 3 inches. Senior Samaan Adenti also claimed gold for the Islanders with a 23 feet 1 inch long jump. Grand Island Senior High also got three clean handoffs in the 1600 meter relay race as Ibrahim Karnouls, Dylan Hartford, Sterling Gappa and Adenti were able to claim first in 3:24.58.
North Platte saw winning performances in three field events. Sophomore Kaden Ross triple jumped his way to gold with a 43-foot 7 inch performance. Elliott Purdy showed potential to win the state meet with his shot of 56 feet 2.5 inches. He also finished second in the boys discus to teammate Joey Larson. The junior was best with a throw of 156 feet 7 inches. Larson was a third place finisher in the shot and qualified for both events at state.
