North Platte erases early deficit, unable to hold down Omaha South
OMAHA, Neb. —
Omaha South jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first five minutes and it looked like No. 1 Omaha South would send the 8th-ranked North Platte Bulldogs back home in blowout fashion.
North Platte was able to even the match up, but didn't have enough left in the tank, as Omaha South won 4-2.
Carlos and David Salazar each scored in the early rush by the Packers to give them a seemingly insurmountable lead.
North Platte earned a couple of penalty kick attempts in the first half and capitalized on both. Aroque Bryant got the first in the 28th minute of the first half and with less than a minute remaining, Johan Centeno got a red card in the box, gifting the Bulldogs another opportunity. Bryant was able to tap in the rebound on a saved penalty kick and brought it back to level at 2-2. Centeno was ejected from the game and, because of NSAA rules, can not participate in the next game, a semifinal against either Creighton Prep or Kearney.
The Packers got back to their attack as Abdi Aban put Omaha South back in front 3-2 eight minutes into the second half. Omaha South got another one with 10:54 remaining in the match, bringing the score to it's final resting spot.
