Maverick hockey coach Dean Blais steps down

Omaha Maverick hockey head coach Dean Blais announced Tuesday that he is stepping down from his position.

Blais said, “I have been extremely fortunate in my career to work in so many good places with so many people who care about the game of hockey."

He had an impressive record in his eight seasons as the head coach, including:

  • He compiled a record of 146-133-30
  • Led the team to the 2015 Frozen Four
  • Had three seasons of 20 or more wins and finished with a record of 17-17-5 in 2016-17.

With this, during four seasons in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, Blaise led the Mavericks to two third-place finishes

H has also been named the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Coach of the Year four times.
