The Midland University dance team on Saturday won the first ever official National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Competitive Dance Championship.

This title is a historic moment, as the NAIA is the first athletic association to recognize competitive cheer and dance as official sports.

The Midland University dance team, headed by Trish Ryan, has won four national championships in the last four years.

Ryan was recognized as the NAIA dance coach of the year and serves as the NAIA vice president on the executive coaches committee for competitive cheer and dance.

The 2017 Midland University dance team has won numerous accolades and had a perfect regular season.
