MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (FOX 42 KPTM) — UPDATE 1/30/19: The Marshalltown Police Department released a statement Wednesday releasing autopsy information for Corey Brown.
Preliminary autopsy results reveal that Brown suffered a significant head injury and died because of a blunt force trauma injury.
"Law enforcement search teams located Brown’s body at a communication tower site located in the 900-1000 block of West Iowa Avenue in Marshalltown. The investigation reveals that Brown climbed over a secure fence to enter the tower site. Brown then climbed onto the communication tower and fell from an undetermined distance. The fall resulted in a traumatic head injury."
Officials say an investigation is ongoing.
The Marshalltown Police Department says the body of missing 13-year-old Corey Brown was found just before 11 Sunday morning.
They say Corey was last seen on Jan. 22 in Marshalltown.
Officials say his body was found in a 'secluded area on the west side of Marshalltown.'
At this time, there is no evidence or information that indicates criminal activity is connected to this missing person/death investigation. However, this is still an active investigation and all possible scenarios will be thoroughly investigated.
Marshalltown Police say there is no additional available, but information will be released as it becomes available.
