City Council approves new entertainment district in Aksarben Village
Aksarben Village is about to be more lively than usual. Omaha's City Council officially approved an entertainment district designation Tuesday afternoon.
The "Inner Rail" will have several restaurants that will allow people to drink outside.
"Maybe it's a crowd with different interests, some nice jazz on occasion," said Jay Noddle. "This is an opportunity for five, six or eight choices for different cuisines and to be able to enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail in a responsible way is what we are after. "
There will be barriers to keep those who are drinking inside the designated areas.
Developers on the project said their main focus is public safety and keeping people who live nearby happy.
