Driver cited in crash that left motorcyclist seriously injured
OMAHA, Neb. (FOX42KPTM) —
A motorcyclist is recovering from several injuries after a crash near 28th and Dodge streets Wednesday afternoon.
At around 2:15, Joshua McKay, 21, was traveling west on Dodge Street approaching 28th Street.
Police say his motorcycle collided with the passenger's side of 49-year-old Shannon Barritt's car, which was heading north on 28th Street passing under a steady red traffic signal at Dodge Street.
McKay was taken to Nebraska Medicine to be treated for serious injuries sustained as a result of the collision.
He is being treated for multiple facial fractures, a compound arm fracture, numerous abrasions and a severe concussion. None of these injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in this collision which remains under investigation.
Barritt was cited for a traffic signal violation and improper display of plates.
