Eastman edges out Ashford in Democratic Primary 2018

OMAHA, Neb (FOX 42 KPTM)-- Kara Eastman will take on Don Bacon in November's general election for Nebraska's 2nd Congressional District.

Eastman took the lead late Tuesday night. Once all the precincts reported, she stayed in the lead by 1,126 votes.

From the beginning of her race, Eastman positioned herself as a progressive newcomer to the political scene.

Former Congressman Brad Ashford angled himself as the experienced moderate who could work with Republicans, if Omaha sent him back to congress.

Ashford lost his seat in 2016 by less than 4,000 votes.
