OMAHA, NEB. (KPTM) — Omaha Police said they conducted a traffic stop late Friday morning involving a car being driven into oncoming traffic.
The incident occurred about two blocks north of O'Reilly Auto Parts on 90th and Spaulding Streets.
The responding officer made contact with the driver and instructed him to pull onto a side street and out of traffic.
The driver, Ray McBride, 73, continued northbound on 90th street and reached Boyd Street before finally stopping.
As a second officer arrived for assistance, it was determined that McBride was experiencing a medical issue.
As McBride's health began to visibly deteriorate, officers requested an ambulance and began performing CPR.
Medics arrived and transported McBride to CHI Immanuel Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The incident is currently being investigated by the Omaha Police Officer-Involved Investigations Team.
