Fire destroys southwest Omaha mansion

Footage from the Omaha Police Department helicopter

Investigators are trying figure out what caused a fire that destroyed a mansion early Friday morning.

Fire crews were called to the home near 184th and F streets just before 1 a.m.

The house was fully involved in the flames, and fire crews fought the fire from outside.

The fire department says no one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

Fire officials say the value of the damage to the home is estimated to be $1,042,000.

They say the home had at least one smoke detector, but they were unable to see if it worked.

Due to the location of the water supply, fire crews from Waterloo, Gretna and Boystown helped put out the fire.

The Red Cross was also on the scene.

The cause is under investigation at this time.
