Grandparents read books to children in Papillion classrooms

Grandparents can make a big mark on children's lives, but that doesn't have to just be at home.

The Papillion-La Vista school district is taking advantage of their experience and bringing them into the classroom.

The district just wrapped up Grandparents' Week.

Thursday the grandparents stepped into classrooms to read for the students at Bell Elementary.

They read books like Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs, and even Star Wars.

"I always read to my granddaughters and so getting to come to school to read to them is really special," said Barb Brabander. "We like reading stories together and when I knew I was coming I went to the library to pick books and so we read through them all at their house and they decided which ones they wanted me to bring."

PLVCS put on Grandparents' week every year.
