Omaha mother accused of shaking her baby to death

OMAHA, Neb. (FOX42 KPTM) — An Omaha mother is accused of shaking her baby to death.

According to court records, the baby was in the hospital for nearly a month before dying.

Mandy Watson De Garcia, 27, is being held on a half a million dollar bond.

De Garcia is accused of child abuse resulting in serious injury, but a new charge was filed Sept. 13.

The police were called to Nebraska Medicine in early August.

According to court records, the 8-month-old Leovardo Garcia had surgery on his head.

Documents say his wounds were consistent with a baby being shaken.

He died several weeks later.
