Omaha police investigates the 36th deadliest crash in Omaha this year

OMAHA,NE(FOX42KPTM)-Omaha police are investigating a deadly crash that happened Tuesday afternoon.

At around 2 p.m., officers were called to the crash at I-80 eastbound near the 13th Street off-ramp.

"A whoosh and boom, thinking it was more construction on the interstate," Jack Evans said.

He lives right across the street from the interstate.

Officials say, Tyrone Santos Morales, 31, was driving east when he drifted out of his traffic lane to the left before overcorrecting back to his original lane.

They say he swerved across multiple lanes and struck a parked tractor-trailer which was in a construction zone. He was the only driver.

No construction workers were injured, but traffic was shut down for hours.

"If we see all these police cars we come out and look," Evans said.

Morales was taken to the hospital where he died shortly after.

"Very sad situation."

Evans says he hears loud noise from the interstate all the time, but never anything this serious. He says he has a message for the family.

"Our hearts are with you, I'm sure your'e heartbroken."

Due to the lack of witnesses to this incident, detectives are asking anyone who saw this crash to call the Omaha Police Traffic Unit at 402-444-5626.
