Parents upset about playground vandalism in La Vista

LA VISTA,Neb(FOX42KPTM)-La Vista Police are searching for the people who vandalized a playground overnight. They spray-painted "DB6" on the equipment.

"There was spray-paint on everything," Brandy Sheffield said.

Sheffield says she was at the park last night.

"There was nothing here, it was perfectly normal."

This means whoever did it, came overnight to do the damage.

"They leave this open so the community can play and the kids who go to school here can play in the summer and just enjoy it," she said. "I have two young children and they don't understand why people would spray-paint on their play equipment that they use".

School officials say a lot of work goes into making sure the playground is clean.

"PTO and staff within the schools work really hard together throughout the year to do fundraising efforts so they really worked hard to get these playgrounds as top of the line as possible," Chase Moffitt said. He is the Communications Director for Papillion-La Vista School District.

The next step is trying to get the playground back in tip top shape.

"With spray-paint it's going to take a little bit more of an extensive process to clean it up," Moffitt said.

Moffitt says a crew will be out tomorrow morning to finish the cleaning process. They also say if you see something suspicious happening on school property, please contact the school district or police.

FOX 42 reached out to the La Vista Police Department. It says it did find evidence that could lead t those responsible. This case is still under investigation.
