Police believe crook caused gas leak that made several people evacuate homes

At around 4 p.m., a woman came home to see the garage door open.

A gas leak at a house near 91st Street and Westridge Road has caused about a dozen people to evacuate their homes Tuesday evening.

At around 4 p.m., the landlord arrived to see the garage door open.

However, no one was in the home, which is currently vacant.

Officials say it would take up to two hours to remove all the gas from the home.

The cause of the gas leak is unknown at this time, but police believe someone broke in and was after the copper wiring.
