Police: First grade teacher arrested for sexually assaulting child
OMAHA, Neb. (FOX 42 KPTM) —
Officials say a first grade teacher at Fontenelle Elementary was arrested Monday morning.
Gregory Sedlacek is accused of first degree sexual assault of a child.
A spokesperson with Omaha Police says the incident happened on Nov. 20th on the school's playground.
Sedlacek was placed on administrative leave that same day.
Investigators say they are expecting more people to come forward.
Officials say it was caught on school security cameras and several teachers saw it and reported it.
A letter from the school says the teacher had been placed on administrative leave after a report of inappropriate contact with a student.
The principal of the school said in a letter "we want our families to know we are taking these allegations very seriously."
"Child Protective Services and law enforcement were alerted about the concerns and we've been actively cooperating with our partners in local law enforcement throughout this investigation," the letter continues.
The school asks if any families have a concern about a staff member's interaction with their child they should report it to the district by contacting the Human Resources Department at 531-299-9428 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
