Questions swirling in Elkhorn neighborhood after a body is found

OMAHA, Ne (FOX42KPTM) - A body turns up in an Elkhorn neighborhood by the old Skyline Golf Course near 217th and Center. Now, investigators are trying to determine an identity.

"We're not sure what's going on," said Julie Brown, a neighbor.

When crime tape went up in her neighborhood, the questions started swirling.

"Is it a resident or a resident around here?"

Brown was surprised to say the least when she saw sheriff's deputies with Douglas County and a mobile crime lab in her neighborhood.

"This neighborhood is usually pretty quiet."

Investigators were in the neighborhood Friday after someone discovered a body in the morning. According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the body appeared to be a woman, but it is not Camisha Hollis. She's the local mother who has been missing all week.

To this point, there are still a lot of unknowns about what exactly happened, but the sheriff's office did say the death appears unnatural.

"It's very, very concerning," said Brown.

As the investigation continues, authorities are now trying to figure out what happened.

"I'd like to know more."

The body was found on a property owned by development firm White Lotus Group. It says it is helping authorities with anything they need during the investigation.

Anyone with information about what happened is encouraged to call the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at (402) 444-6000. You can remain anonymous.
