Seats filling up fast ahead of NCAA basketball tournament in Omaha

OMAHA, Ne (FOX42KPTM) - Omaha will soon be filled with thousands of visitors coming to the city to watch postseason college basketball. Tickets to those games are still available, but if you're looking for the best deal you'll want to act now.

"There's just a buzz and excitement our state has never seen before,"said Chad Carr, a ticket broker with Ticket Express.

Count Carr among those looking forward to postseason hoops. This is the fourth time in the last ten years the NCAA tournament will be played in Omaha. When the tournament makes it back to Omaha higher stakes will be involved. Four teams will continue their pursuit of a national championship and only one will advance.

"This is a very unique opportunity for people in the city of Omaha," said Carr.

Seats at the CenturyLink Center are filling up fast and tickets are getting expensive.

"We've been getting a lot of phone calls."

Carr says prices can range anywhere from just a couple hundred dollars in the nosebleed section to a couple thousand dollars at the lower level.

If you are going to buy tickets, Carr recommends you use your credit card and to avoid cash transactions.

"You want to make sure that you have some recourse if you get to the event and things don't go as planned."

Carr also recommends you do your homework before doing business with someone.

"Unfortunately, when we have these high-profile events come to Omaha the bad guys see that as an opportunity to take advantage of people that are trying to find a good deal on something."

The tournament begins March 15th and the games in Omaha will happen March 23rd and March 25th.

It's also worth noting there will be more security at the CenturyLink Center before you enter the arena. Fifty new metal detectors were recently purchased to clear everyone who comes in.
