Police: Teacher says he sexually assaulted several girls at elementary school
OMAHA, Neb (FOX 42 KPTM) —
The Omaha Public School teacher accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old-girl was ordered held without bond Wednesday morning in Douglas County Jail.
Prosecutors say two teachers saw Greg Sedlacek, 30, with his hands under the girl's skirt on the Fontenelle Elementary school playground.
Prosecutors say he then put the girl on his lap at the bottom of a slide.
He's charged with first-degree sexual assault.
Detectives with the Child Protection unit said Tuesday that the assault was also caught on surveillance camera.
During court Wednesday morning, Fox 42 learned the girl involved in this assault told investigators at Project Harmony that she saw Sedlacek touch other girls at the school.
Prosecutors say he admitted to assaulting several other girls at the school.
In court, prosecutors said Sedlacek admitted assaulting girls at other schools where he worked in the past.
A deacon with the archdiocese of Omaha says Sedlacek served as a volunteer at Holy Name School from 2012-2013.
He says no reports were made against Sedlacek during his time at Holy Name and says a background check came back clear.
Tim McNeil says parents and former students of Holy Name will receive emails soon about his employment.
Prosecutors say Sedlacek also told detectives he watches child pornography.
Prosecutors expect he will be hit with more charges.
A judge ordered him held without bond and issued a no contact order.
If he's found guilty he could get 20 years to life in prison on the one charge alone.
