Saturday Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) Director Scott Frakes announced two more staff members inside state prisons have tested positive for COVID-19.

One of the staff members is employed at the Omaha Correctional Center (OCC), the other is employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln. Both employees are self-isolating at home.

Frakes says people who live and work at the State Penitentiary and OCC have been notified. Anyone who has had close contact with the staff members has been directed to self-quarantine.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak began, 252 NDCS staff have tested positive for the virus. Corrections officials say 196 of those people have since recovered from COVID-19.
